Very good analysis and insights. I think that part of the explanation for the finding of depression correlating with believing so-called misinformation is that "ignorance is bliss". That is to say, it is less painful to follow the path of least resistance, generally speaking. Well, ignorance is bliss until it isn't, anyway.
